What Industries Rely on Bent Tubing
A quick look around and you discover that bent tubing is everywhere—keeping us warm or cool, producing our food and even providing us a place to sit.
Tube bending is one of the most basic metal-forming processes—truly the backbone of the modern world.
Here are some of the most common industrial applications:
Aerospace & Aviation:
- Bent tubing is used in components and for adding structural integrity. Within these two industries, particularly, precision is critical.
Agriculture:
- Bent tubing is used in various parts for farm equipment such as combines, tractors and attachments, like sprayers.
Automotive:
- Exhaust systems, parts and safety features in cars, ATVs and off-road vehicles are constructed of bent tubing.
Construction:
- Bent tubing is used throughout the construction industry. Cranes are designed using bent tubing. Frames for skyscrapers and other structural components, like stairways and rails, also are created using bent tubing.
Furniture and Recreation:
- Furniture handles and frames for beds and tables, outdoor furniture and tents all are made using bent tubing, as are roller coasters and other amusement park rides.
HVAC:
- Bent tubing is used throughout HVAC systems in commercial and home settings.
Instruments:
- Musical instruments of all kinds, from trombones to tubas, are formed using bent tubing.
Manufacturing:
- Bent tubing is used for making machines and tools for almost all manufacturing applications.
Oil & Gas:
- Piping for oil and gas equipment traditionally was produced by cutting sections of pipe and welding elbows to form assemblies, leaving the system more susceptible to leaks. Bent tubing now is used to create one continuous unit with weld joints at the ends only for greater safety and system integrity.
Shipbuilding:
- Miles and miles of bent tubing are installed on tankers, container ships and cruise liners to transport fuel, water, oil and hydraulic fluids.
COMCO USA offers several types of CNC steel pipe bending machines for your specific application, including:
Comco TMS Electric CNC Tube Bender
The Comco TMS electric CNC tube bender costs less while retaining quality, speed and flexibility. We have achieved it through re-engineering and by using the newest technologies available. Its quick-change tooling process allows set-up in less than 10 minutes.
Machine components are carefully selected to use off-the-shelf cylinders, Mitsubishi servo motors, and servo packs, and reducers to maximize replacement part availability. A NEMA-style lockable filtered enclosure is standard on all models, providing maximum protection of the electronics.
This electric CNC tube bender can be integrated with optional components such as loaders, robots and unload devices in order to increase production efficiency. The TMS series provides the accuracy required in the manufacture of jet engines and the speed required by rigorous schedules imposed on automotive suppliers.
The Comco KB Series
The Comco KB Series is a compact and fast CNC bending machine perfectly suited for automotive, HVAC, aircraft and medical applications. The machine platform is precise, surface ground and combined with the highest-quality components to provide the utmost in machine movement accuracy. All axes are servo-driven on THK rails and bearings for exact positioning. The bent head is designed for maximum part clearance, which, combined with the programming versatility, allows the forming of complex and symmetrical part shapes.
Comco TWS & TWD Series
TWS Series: Left and Right Hand CNC Benders costs less while retaining quality, speed, and flexibility.
TWD Series: Left and Right Hand CNC Benders are equipped with two bend heads, one on each side, designed for maximum part clearance.
Comco KBB-70 KBB Series Tube Bender
The KBB-70 is the workhorse of booster benders on the market. It is used in automotive and aircraft applications requiring 1D bends, with minimum clamp lengths, along with a compact bend head clearance for intake or exhaust manifolds and aircraft fuel lines.
